Vadim George Govorov was born in 1969 in the former Soviet Union, behind the iron curtain.
Growing up in the beautiful city of Kiev, Vadim from the early age of 8 started experimenting with wax creating his own toys. By the age of 9, having read a third of his father's extensive library, Vadim's clay collections included characters of Jules Vern, Conan Doyle (All XII Volumes) and Fennimore Cooper. He entertained his friends by recreating scenes from famous books and movies. Soon Vadim started using professional modeling compounds which could be baked and hardened. The only problem was that clay was sold only in a pale gray color. It was big and hard as a rock. It took hours to warm it up by the hands and turn it into flexible flat mass. After that, paint was added and it was mixed to a colorful big ball. Just imagine a pizza guy preparing a pie and spreading tomato sauce, the process was repeated for each color and shade - about 52 of them. Still it was just a hobby, but recognition came in 1984 when Vadim's work was displayed in the city art gallery and several gift shops placed orders.
I n 1987, 18 year old Vadim was drafted and after three month of boot camp he was shipped off as a junior sergeant to fight Russia'a war in Afghanistan.
He never found Bin Laden, but got some souvenirs from his constitutes. Two years later, with bullet holes in his legs and knife wounds on his back and hands, he was back in the city. Readjusting was hardened watching many of his brothers-in-arms taking the easy way out with drugs and alcohol, he said "Not Me!" So Vadim joined the French Foreign Legion and roamed the world with the outrageous bunch.
Finally in 1994, he made his way to New York. There was no time for the hobby and from professional soldier Vadim to gas station attendant, cashier at a supermarket, limo driver, flower arranger, carpenter and interior decorator of kitchen and bath at Home Depot. But soon curiosity and need for the extreme took him to LA, CA. After a year of training Vadim joined on elite group of deep sea divers of the offshore oilfields and there he was going around the world for the second time.

Now having seen the world literally from top to bottom, Vadim decided to create his own. Life experience left a deep imprint of his soul and point of view. So a little of humor and imagination was necessary. Little by little ClayWorld started to take shape. Military theme is dominating for obvious reasons and excellent knowledge of history and attention to detail is shown in various military collections, from the Roman Empire to the most modern warfare.

Currently Vadim lives in New York City. He works as a commercial Driver in New York Harbor. 8 hours a day, that's it! The rest of his time is dedicated to his ClayWorld, his Beautiful Wife Jana and incredibly Smart Rat Terrier Rex.
